The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has introduced a Sliding Mechanism for qualifying candidates to ensure that vacant posts are filled efficiently and deserving candidates get fair opportunities based on merit.
This new system aims to reduce unfilled vacancies and make the post allocation process more transparent.
How the New Sliding Mechanism Will Work
1) Tentative Allocation in First Round
In the first round, SSC will conduct a Tentative Allocation of posts to candidates based on merit and preferences.
This allocation will not be final at this stage.
2) Fix or Float Option During Identity Verification (IV)
At the time of Identity Verification (IV), candidates will be required to choose between two options:
FIX
FLOAT
What Happens If You Choose FIX?
– The allotted post will be treated as final.
– The candidate will not be considered for any upgrade.
– No further sliding will be allowed.
What Happens If You Choose FLOAT?
– The candidate keeps the current allotted post.
– The candidate will get one opportunity for upgrade to a higher preference post if vacancy becomes available.
– Upgrade will depend on merit and available vacancies.
Only One Sliding Round
SSC has clarified that:
– There will be only one sliding round.
– No waiting list will be prepared.
This means candidates must carefully select FIX or FLOAT during IV.
Important Rule About Identity Verification
– If a candidate does not appear in the IV process,
– The candidate will be treated as Absent.
Final Result Declaration
The final result will be prepared after considering:
All available vacancies
Candidates’ FIX or FLOAT choices
Merit position
The final result will be binding and final.
Objective of the Sliding Mechanism
The main aim of this system is:
To fill maximum vacancies
To ensure fair opportunity based on merit
To reduce unfilled posts
